Blue Cross Insurance Comes Up With PHRs Model

Good quality health care is simply a means of having the right information in the right hands and at the right time. You might be an individual or a family person, every body require synchronized sort of health care information, which might be distinct among a number of physicians, hospitals, pharmacies, and even among few other health care providers. But in fact we are many years away from this system that are in fact fully interoperable.

Consumers would now have better-quality access to the health care information they may require sometime to optimize their health needs and thanks to a new personal health record (PHR) model being monitored by Blue cross health insurance plans.

America's Health Insurance Plans (AHIP) and the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association (BCBSA) is now working in combine way to know the core health care information that comprises in PHRs, and have developed and pilot tested standards that as well allow consumers to move PHR data when they require to change their coverage. This makes sure that PHRs would certainly be moveable from one health insurer to another health insurer, as customers may request. Members of the two teams cover approximately 200 million people.

The diligence model PHR by Blue cross insurance is actually a private one, secure web-based tool that is preserved by an insurer that further comprise of a consumer's claims and governmental information. PHRs permit individual patients and their selected caregivers to appear and manage health care information and play a superior role in their own health care.

Consequently of health insurance also claims filed on behalf of policy holder, insurers have main information necessary to offer PHRs, and are in an elite position to build them for customers in the close to term. PHRs are dissimilar from the electronic health records that offers usually use to store and run full detailed clinical information. An estimation of 75 million people has PHRs all through health insurers, with millions more planning for the service during 2007.

Physicians tend to hearten insurers to aggress on a consistent set of core PHR data. Health insurers would take on innovating in the PHRs they get bigger, but the aim is to slot in core data elements into any PHR. These elements consist of patient histories, medications, immunizations, allergies, risks, plans of care, and as well few other information, which physicians know as the key data. The health insurance groups of people have set certain aim of incorporating the core data elements and put into practice the standards for portability from a previous insurer to a new insurer by 2008.

Change Begins from Within Through Paradigm Shifts to Your Belief System

Many individuals and that includes organizations which are just groups of individuals united to achieve specific goals continually seek new answers to this centuries old question: How do I change?

With today's generation having more change in one year than their grandparent's experienced in their entire lifetime, learning how to deal with change is critical to personal and organizational success. This is called change management. Yet, change is still a challenge even for those who think that they have open minds.

For example, can you explain the logic of these numbers?

8 5 4 9 7 6 3 2 0

What is going through your mind? Are you adding, subtracting, multiplying to determine the logical sequence? As a business coach and change management consultant, this is one of most favorite activities that I use with my clients from young people to executive board members.

What this activity quickly demonstrates is that the paradigms we use to solve problems with an an individual or as an organization force us in some cases to expend a lot of energy as well as emotions without a satisfactory answer. However, when we change how we see things, the things we look at will change.

This change happens because we have changed within ourselves. Outside forces from motivational speakers to the newest video such as The Secret only provide opportunities to see things differently.

Since we are the way we are because of years of experiences that have further solidify our foundational belief systems, we should not expect change to happen overnight. Change takes time just like reading a positive affirmation statement or what I call a belief statement. When those written statements are read out loud, heard and felt at least three times each day, we can begin to switch our negative beliefs or attitudes for positive ones. Remember, first, we must be the change that we are seeking.

P.S. If you cannot answer the above question, just send me an email or give me a call.

Is America Being Overthrown By Our Own Political System?

In our system of government the laws of checks and balances over the executive branch (Presidency), legislative (Congress) and judicial system (Supreme Court) maintains the balance of power between these three separate but equal branches of government. But what can happen when one political party, is majority in all three branches? That is, a republican president, a republican house, a republican senate and a Supreme Court composed of republican appointed judges? I am not talking about what is “supposed to happen” rather, what “really happens”, you know, behind closed doors? I don’t have an answer but I have a few observations of what concentrated power in the hands of the few might look like.

1. Massive tax breaks and financial advantage to the rich and filthy rich individual and corporate campaign contributors, including corporate lobbyists.

2. Deregulation of industries, which benefit corporate powers that may be benefiting from unfair trade agreements, outsourcing of jobs, illegal immigration and price gouging of Americans (like oil companies).

3. Implementation of fund-raising systems designed to raise large amounts of capital quickly to support the cost of advertising to bash and smash political opponents and defeat them at the polls.

4. Developing highly effective communication systems and a “mantra” that effectively brainwashes Americans into voting favorably because of induced fear or "terror" of imminent repercussions.

5. Establish political platforms (democrats v. republicans) with ideologies that disenfranchises the majority of Americans from voting because of their inability to adopt either side of the political philosophy (e.g. abortion, gay rights, taxes, stem cell research, immigration, war, terror, religion, etc.)

6. Make it extremely difficult for any other political party to come to power besides the two already in place.

7. Implementation of electronic voting systems that can be manipulated to determine favorable outcomes for the party in power without any audit trail so common people could not simply or accurately count those votes.

8. Convince people their vote doesn’t really matter so a growing majority will stay home and not become involved in politics.

9. Override the popular vote with the Electoral College or Supreme Court ruling to further reinforce the fact that people’s votes don’t really matter.

10. Erode the middle class and create more poor people, keep the already poor poorer and help the rich get wealthier. Fool the poor people working for low wages into a false sense of wealth by ownership of cheap consumer electronics and goods, keeping true wealth in the hands of the elite who can continue to exploit the poor. Break the backs of labor unions.

11. Control the electronic media and it’s reporters by controlling FCC licensing to create state-generated radio and TV propaganda that appears as “news” when in reality, it is predetermined “press releases” by those in power.

It doesn’t take much imagination to consider how many of these elements are in place today and how little we can do about it individually and personally. However, there is one small thing you can do that will help fragment this control of power and it is this:

If you vote for a republican president, vote democratic across the board for your state representation. Likewise, if you vote for a democratic president, vote republican for your state representation. Why? By doing so you will limit the powers. A president’s power is limited in large part by congress and the senate. We should never have a situation where all branches of government are packed so tightly by one political party as our current situation with the republicans who control the house, the senate, the presidency and appear to be the majority on the Supreme Court.

Integrating Engineering & Manufacturing Bill Of Material (BOM) Through ERP Software Solutions

With ever-increasing movements in manufacturing toward a seamless integration of shop systems, enterprise resource planning (ERP) software has proven a viable solution to the problem of communication between departments. The immediacy of graphically-displayed (GUI), real-time data available to operators at the touch of a finger functions to reduce the amount of time and paperwork necessary to make job production run smoothly. However, one of the last vestiges of needless multilayer redundancy in the manufacturing system is shown in the very essence of the production system; that is, the conceptual and actual separations that exist in the engineering and manufacturing bills of material (BOM). While there are, of course, different types of bills of material dependent upon the department that generates them and for their intended purpose, the similarities of ultimate purpose found in engineering and manufacturing BOM?s is the basis by which ERP seeks to their integration within the engineering/production process.

Generally, a BOM describes the product to be produced in terms of its various assemblies, sub-assemblies, and parts. In addition to being a listing of parts, a thorough BOM displays these elements in hierarchical fashion with a master BOM outlining the list of components by broad reference and working its way down through the sub-assemblies and increasingly detailed constituent components necessary for the production of the product. For many ERP software systems utilizing GUI displays, this hierarchical mapping of BOM entry and inquiry is produced in what is termed an exploded tree view, whereby components as kids are easily traced back to their parents. As well, to the extent that BOM?s provide a knowledge of type and quantity of parts necessary for a particular job, they are vital to accurate purchasing and efficient inventory maintenance.

The problem regarding BOM?s in manufacturing is when the classic structure of the engineering BOM needs to be enhanced by the creation of a manufacturing BOM for actual production. In the past, wasteful amounts of paperwork were needed to describe the production in terms of routers?especially when it came to the inclusion of data such as phantom parts. In addition, any engineering change order (ECO) that affects material ordering, purchasing, inventory or any number of other departments could cause great delays in production as they thus affect the manufacturing BOM. In short, the classic separation of engineering and manufacturing BOM?s (where quoting is always in the middle) necessitates the additional step of reorganization of the assembly router.

With ERP software, engineering and manufacturing BOM?s are now integrated to eliminate such reorganization and the need for an additional BOM for manufacturing itself. Tooling information is included directly into the router from engineering as the different tree levels are controlled in ERP software under a single dispatch list. In addition, ECO?s are automatically updated within the GUI and without additional paperwork. In the more robust ERP software systems, the engineering BOM is backward scheduled on the shop floor for more accurate assembly instructions. However, perhaps the greatest benefit of all in the use of ERP to integrate engineering and manufacturing BOM?s is that of a single-system organizational communication structure. Now, engineering and manufacturing are finally working together on the same page, resulting gained efficiencies in direct production costs (such as inventory management) and reduced waste in various in-direct costs (such as off-production labor time).
